Empowering Athletes. Building Community. Changing Lives.

Visually impaired Manitobans through sport and recreation. We create inclusive, supportive environments where athletes of all ages and abilities can grow physically, mentally, socially, and emotionally.

MBSA provides inclusive sport and recreation opportunities for athletes of all abilities. From recreational activities to high-performance competition, we support athletes in building confidence, independence, and lifelong connections.

Joining MBSA means being part of a supportive, inclusive community dedicated to growth and connection.

Athletes are classified according to international standards to ensure fair competition. Sighted athletes are welcome to join, and volunteers are encouraged to guide and support participants. We also welcome suggestions for new sports.

“When I lost my sight, it became an awakening for me.” — says Kanya.

Kanya, from Winnipeg, began losing her vision at age 23 and became fully blind a few years later. During that time, she discovered the power of sport to rebuild confidence, strength, and independence.

Kanya previously served as the President of the Manitoba Blind Sports Association, She also participates in Jiu-Jitsu (Martial Arts), helping create opportunities for people with visual impairments to participate in sports, stay active, and build community.

Concussions can occur while participating in any sport or recreational activity. Since the circumstances under which a concussion can be sustained are so varied, it’s important for all coaches, parents, and athletes to be aware of the signs, symptoms, and what to do if a concussion occurs. Our organization is committed to increased education, awareness, and established protocols that will assist you in gaining the knowledge and skills required ensuring the safety of your athletes. We can all work together to ensure a safe sport environment.
